Forty Chicago area pastors from the Leader's Network asked their congregations for donations at services Sunday morning. Pastor Robbie Wilkerson of the New Birth Christian Center in Austin is spearheading the effort.
Among those heading to Alabama with relief supplies will be Clesia Taylor, who got word that her family is o-k after surviving the tornado.
"I talked to my daughter. They're OK. They still don't have lights or any of the resources and stuff yet. We're gonna drive down, connect with several pastors down there at what we consider 'ground zero,' partner with whatever efforts they already have going on down there," Taylor said.
The group will leave Chicago for Alabama Tuesday morning.
