Police say a Canadian man was charged with a felony after allegedly he made up a story to get his wife tickets to the Oprah show recordings at the United Center.

Robert Spearing and his wife flew to Chicago from Ontario,Canada -- even though they did not have tickets.

Police say Spearing created some injuries by scraping his hands on the sidewalks and cutting himself on the forehead Tuesday. He told officers he was beaten, and someone took his tickets. He reportedly said he did not want his wife to be disappointed he could not get tickets.

Spearing later admitted it was all a hoax. He is now charged with felony disorderly conduct.
