A special wreath laying and rededication was held in Grant Park Monday morning at the John A. Logan monument.

The ceremony included a 21-gun salute by sailors from the Great Lakes Naval Stations. Representatives from each branch of the military, as well as the Gold Star Mothers and Daughters of the American Revolution, took part in the annual wreath laying.

The ceremony also paid tribute to Civil War Gen. John A. Logan, who founded Decoration Day, the predecessor of Memorial Day.
