Vets speak out against America's war involvement

May 30, 2011 (CHICAGO)

Gathering at the Vietnam Veteran's Memorial Wall downtown Monday, veterans called for an end of multiple deployments for troops who may have been traumatized during earlier tours of duty.

"Almost 30 percent of members on their third deployment suffer a mental health problem. Usually it's ignored in order to continue the war and occupation," said Army veteran David Van Dam.

This was one of several events across the country today voicing support for Operation Recovery, an initiative to increase help for veterans suffering from trauma.
