Meditation could help women deal with hot flashes

June 3, 2011

A new study finds that an easy-to-learn meditation technique called "mindfullness training" can help ease the hot flashes, night sweats and insomnia of menopause.

The study in the journal Menopause showed that mindfulness training, which is based on Buddhist meditation, reduced the distress associated with menopause and improved physical, psychosocial and sexual functioning.

Scientists say that the findings are important because hormone replacement therapy has been associated with health risks.
