Mantegna unveiled an honorary street sign on the corner of Austin and 25th Street.
The Morton East High School graduate credits his 1963 audition for a school production of "West Side Story" with inspiring him to pursue acting.
Mantegna's in town to help raise money for the Morton 201 Foundation which aims to improve the quality of education.
