New Berenstain Bears books due out this summer

June 18, 2011 10:46:18 AM PDT
Like Clark Griswold piling his brood into that familiar wood-paneled station wagon, Mike Berenstain is taking his Bear clan on the road.

But instead of Wally World, this summer vacation has three destinations: Milwaukee, Chicago, and Indianapolis. And instead of befuddled Clark and Ellen, it's Papa Bear and Mama Bear doling out the wisdom.

The beloved Berenstain Bears® series, created by Stan and Jan Berenstain and continued by son Mike (with Jan), has six new titles in the spotlight just in time for a Summer Book Tour, presented by Zonderkidz. The new books include titles such as The Berenstain Bears' Gossip Gang and The Berenstain Bears' Neighbor in Need.

Mike Berenstain, carrying on the tradition of sharing this timeless family with fans old and new, will sign copies of these books in stores June 6-10. Lucky fans may catch a live sighting of the Berenstain Bears® themselves (costumed character visits will vary by store).

With summer around the corner, it's a perfect way to get kids actively engaged in reading while school is out. Seasoned fans will delight in visiting with the treasured characters, whose messages and values have stood the test of time.

In 2009, Zonderkidz sponsored a 7-city book tour for the Bears, which was a huge success, drawing lively, appreciative crowds and selling out events in all 15 stores! They are back by popular demand this summer.

New titles in Zonderkidz Living Lights? series include:
The Berenstain Bears' Gossip Gang
The Berenstain Bears' The Perfect Fishing Spot
The Berenstain Bears' Neighbor in Need
The Berenstain Bears' Kitten Rescue
The Berenstain Bears and the Forgiving Tree
The Berenstain Bears: Here's the Church, Here's the Steeple
The Berenstain Bears Follow God's Word

Books in the Berenstain Bears® Living Lights? series illustrate morals that are important for being good bears, such as forgiveness, avoiding gossip, and being a caring neighbor.

WHO: Stan and Jan Berenstain introduced the first Berenstain Bear books in 1962. Mike Berenstain grew up watching his parents work together to write about and draw these lovable bears. Eventually he started drawing and writing about them too. Though Stan died in 2005, Jan and Mike continue to create the delightful Bear adventures from their family home in Pennsylvania, in an area that looks much like the sunny dirt road deep in Bear Country.
