WCL: Help Save the Lafayette Elementary School's String Ensemble

The after-school string ensemble at the Lafayette Elementary School, a public school in the Humboldt Park neighborhood, is at risk of losing its music program. More than 90 percent of the students come from poverty and live in neighborhoods where gang activities are high.

Join hands with us at Windy City LIVE to help save the one thing that means the most to these kids. For many of them, this is their one chance out of the neighborhood. It is their one chance at a shot of a better life.

Also, as special bonus, Chicago's renowned chef Rick Bayless offered to match, dollar for dollar, any money donated today (June 8, 2011) by the Windy City Live audience.

Update: WCL raised $9,545 on June 8. Rick Bayless is matching those donations with $10,000.
