Emanuel sworn in as Public Building Commission chair

June 14, 2011 (CHICAGO)

The mayor was sworn in Tuesday as chairman of Chicago's Public Building Commission.

The commission says Chicago already has more buildings certified for energy saving and environmental design than any other city.

The board also approved a request to increase the number of police security cameras spread around Chicago.

"You have key pieces of critical national security, i.e., Homeland Security, that don't have the cameras that are there for security," said Emanuel. "Work's been done, we should complete it, because it's identified as important in the homeland security reports."

The number of new cameras has not been determined
