Google Chromebook laptop computers hit stores Wednesday featuring a web-based operating system.

Instead of saving files to the computer, users save everything to online storage services.

Google has created Chrome-specific apps for users to take the place of traditional computer software, like Microsoft Word and Excel.

The cloud-based computer costs about $500.
