Donor gives Gurnee teen new wheelchair

June 16, 2011 (GURNEE, Ill.)

Marlon Tapang, 16, has cerebral palsy. He says the specialized wheelchair made it easier for him to get around without anyone's help.

Marlon's family said it would have cost $5,000 to replace. A viewer saw the story and offered to buy a new one.

Marlon was all smiles as he sat in his new chair for the first time.

"It just means so much because I'm able to get a new chair that will help me get around more and I'll just be able to enjoy my summer," Marlon said.

The chair was modified to match the one stolen from Marlon. The person who bought it wants to remain anonymous.
