Chicago gets 2 natural gas fuel stations

Two new compressed natural gas fuel stations are open for business Friday morning.

Billionaire financier T. Boone Pickens helped cut the ribbon for one station at 1125 S. Jefferson.

The other one opened at 3145 N. Western Ave.

Pickens is co-founder of the Clean Energy Fuels Corporation. He has been a long-time supporter of natural gas as an alternative to imported oil

Taxi Medallion Management also sponsored the dedication.

The company will deploy a new fleet of up to 100 cars that run on natural gas.
