Injured falcon recovering at Field Museum

An injured peregrine falcon was rescued from a Loop sidewalk Tuesday.

Rescuers say the young falcon is likely one of two offspring of a falcon that nested on the Metropolitan Correctional Center.

Specialists put the falcon in a protective box for safe transport to the Field Museum, where it will spend the night in air-conditioning at the museum and get a band so it can be tracked.

The bird could be released as early as Wednesday.
