Storms cause morning UP North line delays

July 1, 2011 (CHICAGO)

The storms brought a lot of downed tree limbs and power outages up in Lake County.

Tom Miller of Metra said that the first inbound Union Pacific North train is running about 20 to 25 minutes late due to a late arrival of equipment from the last train of the evening Thursday night.

"We had some lengthy delays last night due to some downed power lines and trees on the tracks, mainly between Zion and Waukegan. Those have been removed, and so far, the first inbound trains are running a little bit late, but we should be OK for the most part this morning on that route," Miller said.
