Chicago Multi-Cultural Dance Center

(RELEASE) Another fascinating Cirque Du Soleil show is taking Chicago by storm. Cirque du Soleil OVO opened at the United Center Wednesday night. OVO is a headlong rush into a colorful ecosystem teeming with life, where insects work, eat, crawl, flutter, play, fight and look for love in a non-stop riot of energy and movement. Now you can enjoy this show and help some local dancers pursue their dreams.

The Chicago Multi-Cultural Dance Center (CMDC) is partnering once again with Cirque du Soleil for a special evening of performance and celebration. Ticket holders will be invited to an Open House reception to learn all about CMDC and its programs. 100% of the ticket price benefits dancers from underserved communities through scholarships, giving them the "chance to dance" under the incomparable training of Homer Hans Bryant and his staff.

The CMDC mission is to create and impart "dance diversity at its best". This includes world-class choreography, performance, professional and pre-professional training and community outreach that "connects" with new and experienced multi-cultural audiences and students of all backgrounds.

CMDC trains and develops dancers and imparts the discipline and harmony of ballet to its multi-cultural students of all ages. The Bryant Ballet Youth Pre-Professional Program is entered through audition or recommendation only as it prepares students for careers in the best ballet companies. The School of Contemporary Dance is for training versatile dancers in ballet and other dance forms such as African, jazz, modern, Latin, tap and Hip Hop. Life skills development through the focus and discipline of ballet based dance is designed to "build better people".

CMDC's community outreach uses programs such as Dancing Off The Streets to offer ballet training in its studio and the community to all children regardless of income and ethnicity. This promotes CMDC's dream that no Chicago child shall be denied the opportunity to enter a ballet based dance career and the reality that dance is an alternative to a violent and destructive "street" youth life-style.
