Conservatory partially reopens after hail damage

Parts of the Garfield Park Conservatory reopened Sunday for the first time since Thursday's devastating hail storm.

The hail broke much of the glass ceilings in the Fern Room, Show House and Desert House, along with nine growing houses. There's been no word when they might reopen and how much repairs could cost.

Other parts of the conservatory, such as the Palm House and the Children's Garden, didn't suffer as much damage because they were fitted with shatter resistant glass during renovations.

ABC7 found a number of visitors there Sunday, including a wedding party.
