Police say the driver who struck her was drunk.
William and Donna Early were walking home after enjoying the "Eyes to the Skies" festival in Lisle Sunday night.
Donna Early, 69, was hit as the two tried to cross Yackley Avenue during a break in traffic.
James Kisla is charged with aggravated DUI.
Despite his loss, William Early says he feels sorry for Kisla.
"I'm sure if this gentleman could relive one evening in his life it would probably be July 3rd, 2011," said Early. "But he shouldn't have been driving."
William says Donna was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Both were avid bikers, and they went everywhere together.
