City collects old cell phones for soldiers

Old cell phones you may have toss in a drawer somewhere can help soldiers stay in touch with their families.

Collection boxes will be setup at the offices of aldermen all over the city to collect old phones. They will be recycled and the money generated will be used to buy prepaid phone cards for active duty military members.

The organization AT&T Pioneers is joining forces with aldermen to recycle the old phones.

The collection boxes will be in place starting Wednesday until Thanksgiving.
