The good news is that all the horses are safe.
The flames broke out Thursday night at Baldwin Farms on Cline Avenue in Schererville.
Smoke from the fire could be seen for miles in each direction. With all the hay and straw in the barns, firefighters lost control of the fire and had to evacuate.
All 75 to 80 horses inside the barns were saved thanks to police and firefighters.
The cause was being investigated.
