5th South Loop robbery reported

Police are questioning three people in connection with a series of strong-armed robberies in the city's South Loop neighborhood.

The most recent of five robberies took place Wednesday night when a woman's purse was stolen. She was not injured.

The rash of robberies all occurred in the area between Roosevelt Road and 18th Street and from Prairie Avenue to Michigan Avenue. Officials say they believe the robbers scout out their targets while still in a car, then get out of the vehicles and knock down the victims and steal their valuables.

An alert was issued earlier this week.
