Several South Side residents were recovering Saturday after being rescued from a fire.

The blaze broke out in the 800- block of West 66th Street just before 8 p.m. Friday.

Residents reportedly had prepared to jump out of the windows from the third floor, but firefighters got one man down on a ladder and helped several more down stairs inside.

Some people were treated at the scene, but no serious injuries were reported.

There was no word on what started the fire.
