According to police, the man stabbed a woman, then allegedly moved toward officers Sunday night in the 2900-block of North Lotus.
Authorities say the man was holding a carving knife in one hand and a steak knife in the other. An officer fired at him when he refused to drop the knives and kept walking toward the officers.
The man was taken to a hospital in unknown condition.
The woman's injuries were not life-threatening.
