Last week, ABC7 learned Emanuel would send his three children to the exclusive University of Chicago Lab School. Tuesday morning, at an unrelated event, the mayor talked about the decision.
"It is not a statement about anything else except for what Amy and I decided as parents to do for our children," Emanuel said. "If I did anything less, I'd be less of a parent. That's no different than what I've said before, and I was going to make this decision as a parent."
The mayor also introduced an ordinance Tuesday morning that would expand community gardens and urban farms in the city, which would create full-time, green jobs in the city's neighborhoods.
