Afghanistan roadside bomb kills NW Ind. soldier

Officials say Augustus "Augy" Vicari, 23, died Friday when a roadside bomb struck his vehicle. He was serving with the U.S. Army National Guard.His commanding officer was also killed in the blast.

His family tells the Northwest Indiana Times that he had been in Afghanistan for just three weeks.

Vicari was from Lowell, Ind., but had been living in Broken Arrow, Okla., with his wife. They would have celebrated their first wedding anniversary in September.
