Study mixed on DHA during pregnancy

Giving pregnant women Omega -3 fatty acid supplements might help prevent future infections in babies, but researchers caution that the effects were not dramatic -- and there's a chance not all babies will be better off because of it.

Still, they report there seems to be some benefit. At one month, babies of moms who took the supplement had fewer total cold symptoms compared to those babies whose moms didn't take DHA. But at three and six months, there was no clear distinction between the groups. What researchers did note is that the babies exposed to DHA had shorter cold symptoms. Details are in this week journal Pediatrics.
