Family and friends of 19-year-old Deontae Smith held a vigil at 61st and Peoria. Two years ago Smith was fatally shot in the chest during a neighborhood block party. A 17-year-old girl was also shot and wounded.
Smith's mother called for someone to come forward with information about the shooter.
"All these people in this community, they know what happened to my son and no one will speak up and say anything. It's like the coldest side over here and I kind of feel like they keeping quiet because they know who it is," said Tonya Burch, mother.
The family released balloons into the sky. Father Michael Pfleger of St. Sabina Church passed out flyers to get the word out about the reward.
