It happened Monday night on Route 53 near Kirchoff Road in northwest suburban Rolling Meadows.
Police say a woman scrolling through her cell phone while driving lost control of her vehicle, hit a tractor trailer in the center lane then struck the man's vehicle, pinning him between the median and the vehicle.
The driver, 23-year-old Kelly Luch of Buffalo Grove, received several citations.
