Chicagoans observe 'National Night Out'

August 2, 2011

Chicago Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy attended one event at True Rock Church in the South Loop.

The goal of National Night Out is to strengthen neighborhood spirit and improve police-community relations. It's also a way for people to send a message to criminals that their neighborhoods are fighting back.

For the first time, west suburban Lombard took part in the National Night Out campaign. Families could enjoy a variety of activities including free swimming at Paradise Bay as well as police, fire and public safety displays.
