No more CTA fare increases for now

CTA riders will not see a fare increase this year, but there are no guarantees about next year.

That was the latest word Wednesday from CTA Chairman Forrest Claypool.

The state of Illinois still owes the transit agency a little more than $102 million.

Until now, the RTA has helped cover CTA expenses. But, after this month, it cannot afford to loan money to the CTA, Pace or Metra.
