DuPage County State's Attorney Robert B. Berlin announced Monday that first degree murder charges have been filed against Yashesh S. Desai, 21, of Woodridge.
At about 3 a.m. Sunday morning, police responded to Desai's home at 3 Plover Court, where he apparently lived with his father, Sanjiv Desai. Yashesh's brother made the call to 911, according to police.
Police say Sanjiv was sleeping on a futon when his son Yashesh struck him multiple times in the head with a weed trimmer. Sanjiv Desai was transported to the hospital and pronounced dead.
Yashesh Desai was arrested at the scene of the incident. He is scheduled to appear in bond court Monday afternoon.
