Wilfredo Gonzalez-Cruz will also serve two years of probation after pleading guilty to a felony theft charge.
Gonzalez-Cruz took the ring from a Cicero home where he was doing repair work earlier this month. When he was confronted about the theft, he swallowed it during a struggle with the homeowner.
Police took Gonzalez-Cruz to the hospital where an X-ray revealed the ring. Authorities waited for nature to run its course, and a couple days later they recovered the evidence.
