Program brings concussion training to area coaches

Its mission is to provide student athletes with the best resources available to protect them from head injuries.

Retired Bears player Hunter Hillenmeyer supports the coalition's work. His career was cut short by a concussion.

Hillenmeyer was one of the first active NFL players to promise his brain for research into head injuries.

Hillenmeyer says educating athletes, coaches and parents will save lives

The coalition is planning to hold more than 40 concussion training sessions over the next year.

There will be no charge to those taking part at schools throughout the area.
