They say you're not supposed to wear white after Labor Day, but some first year Loyola University medical students plan on wearing that color beyond next weekend.

About 150 students received their first white medical coats in a special ceremony in Maywood Sunday morning. The students received their coats from faculty and other physicians as a symbol of the passing of knowledge.

For more than 100 years, the white coat has symbolized care, compassion, and respect.
