Details: The Chicago Jazz Festival is taking place Labor Day weekend at various venues. It starts September 1st and goes until the 4th. There are different times and locations throughout the Cultural Center, Millennium Park, and Grant Park. Some artists involved include two-time Grammy Award winner Roy Hargrove, Cassandra Wilson, Orbert Davis, and more!

Details: This weekend The North Coast Music Fest lets you see one more mass of outdoor concerts before summer ends and we all end up huddled in the warmth of indoor concert halls. Returning for it's second year in the city, the fest brings hip-hop acts like Wiz Khalifa and Common, electronic DJ sets from the likes of Fatboy Slim and Bassnectar, and a few off-beats bands like Of Montreal and Gogol Bordello.

African Festival of the Arts (9/2 - 9/5)

Details: The 21st Annual African Festival of the Arts will be taking place this Labor Day Weekend in Washington Park. Get the chance to celebrate African Culture with three stages of entertainment, arts and crafts, and food. Weekend passes are available.

Ravenswood Remix (9/3)

Details: Remix. Rethink. Recycle. Come check out "Chicago's Recycled Art Fair" featuring local work created from found and recycled materials. Music, food, beverages, and educational workshops are also on the lineup. A portion of the profits will benefit the art's program at Chicago's Hamilton Elementary School, a magnet cluster arts school.

20th Anniversary Concerts: Pearl Jam at Alpine Valley (9/3-9/4)

Chicago's Soul Train 40th Anniversary Concert (9/5)

Details: The Chicago-run, nationally syndicated music television show Soul Train is celebrating forty years in the city that created it. Founder and show host Don Cornelius will be honored alongside performances from legendary R&B and soul artists. Start the festivities early at the pre-concert dance part at 4pm. Chicago radio pioneer Herb "Cool Gent" Kent will be spinning hits from the 60s, 70s, and 80s so you can get your labor day groove on.
