The eta Creative Arts Foundation is Chicago's only cultural arts complex of its kind in the African-American community.

The foundation, which provides training and performance opportunities for youth and adults, recently underwent a leadership change. Co-founder, president and producer of eta Abena Joan Brown recently retired. On March 1, 2011, Phillip Thomas succeeded Dr. Brown as president and CEO.

On Saturday, September 10th, a Tribute and Roast will honor Dr. Brown during the annual benefit gala, the centerpiece of the 40th anniversary weekend celebration. The theme of the gala is "Honoring Our Past, Embracing Our Future."
