A Metra train slammed into a vehicle early Tuesday on the Union Pacific Northwest Line, temporarily shutting down the tracks in both directions.

Train #604 hit a vehicle at Three Oaks Road in Cary around 5:30 a.m.

The vehicle was removed from the train tracks by 5:45 a.m. and placed on a flatbed, as the investigation continued. Three Oaks Road was closed at U.S. 14 in Cary while crews cleared the wreckage. The accident was cleared by 6:05 a.m.

Train 604 was scheduled to arrive in Chicago at 6:35 a.m.

Metra spokesman Michael Gillis said there were no injuries reported, and it appeared the car was unoccupied.
