For Your Family: Free EKG Screenings

September 12, 2011 (CHICAGO)

That happened to the Schewitz family in Lake Bluff. Max Schewitz, who loved the outdoors, died suddenly at age 20 in 2005. He fainted at work and died in the ER.

His family has now made it their mission to prevent other cases like his.

Visiting ABC7 were Max's mom, Mary Beth, and the medical director of the foundation they created in Max's name, Dr. Eli Lavie. The Max Schewitz Foundation offers free EKG screenings to high school kids.

For the first time, the Foundation is offering free EKG screenings to college students at the College of Lake County on September 14, and there are nine other free screenings scheduled at various high schools.
