Police: NW Ind. woman hoarded animals in filthy trailer

September 13, 2011 (PORTAGE, Ind.)

On Friday, officers went to the home in Portage after receiving several complaints. They say Patricia Scott argued with officers before she let them inside. That's when police say they found a collection of dogs, cats, rabbits and snakes stacked in cages and living in filth.

Neighbors say Scott became irate and let a large dog loose to charge towards the officers.

"They were running down the street. They went that way and were going around," said neighbor Jennifer Dominiak. "She was like, 'Sic 'em boy,' and they went after the cops."

The animals were removed from the home and taken to the Hobart Humane Society.

Scott faces charges of disorderly conduct and cruelty to animals.
