Man gets 70 years for fatal shooting on CTA bus

Milton Wardlaw, 27, turned himself in to police after investigators released CTA surveillance video of the man involved in the shooting. Wardlaw admitted firing a shot into the bus because he said he was scared of another passenger with whom he had quarreled. But in handing down the sentence, the judge said Wardlaw had already stepped off the bus and was in no danger when he fired the gun.

The bullet struck and killed 17-year-old Kiyanna Salter.

Wardlaw apologized to Salter's family in court Thursday. He said her death was an accident.
