West suburban caretaker accused of assaulting patient

September 19, 2011 (LaGRANGE, Ill.)

Authorities say 51-year-old Dwight Cadelinia inappropriately touched the woman.

LaGrange Police found Cadelinia hiding in a window well in the victim's home, according to a police report.

Cadelinia was an employee of Alternative Home Placement Services in Westmont.

Alternative Home Placement Services, Ltd. e-mailed the following statement to ABC7 News on Wednesday September 21, 2011:

--- "We are shocked by the arrest of Dwight Cadelinia and regret any harm that may have come to the care receiver and the family. Mr. Cadelinia, however, is not an employee of Alternative Home Placement Services, Ltd. He is an independent contractor with our agency for referral only, who is then hired directly by the care receiver. Before our agency refers any caregiver, we check all prospective caregiver's references and perform a thorough background check. We have been in business since 1999, and this is the first such incident ever brought to our attention. Immediately upon learning of the incident, we referred a new caregiver to the care receiver, and we have ended our affiliation with Mr. Cadelinia for any future referrals by our agency."
