Jennifer Hudson opens weight loss center

September 27, 2011 (CHICAGO)

Hudson and Mayor Rahm Emanuel cut the ribbon Tuesday, dedicating The Weight Watchers Jennifer Hudson Center located on East 47th Street in Chicago's Hyde Park neighborhood. This is first center named after a Weight Watchers spokesperson.

"Weight Watchers is like my extended family, and Chicago is also my family, so I love bringing the two together. So, I'm so honored to be here," said Hudson.

Weight Watchers will donate a portion of the center's revenue to a foundation in honor of Hudson's late nephew, Julian King. In October 2008, the bodies of Hudson's mother and brother were found in the family's home. King's body was found days later in a vehicle. All three had been shot.

Hudson is known for her Oscar-winning role in "Dreamgirls."
