Lots of coffee seems to cut depression risk in women

September 27, 2011

A new study shows women who drink four or more cups of caffeinated coffee a day seem to have a lower risk of depression than those who have little or no coffee.

The research involves women who have post menopausal depression and it only applies to women who smoke.

The findings are published in the Archives of Internal Medicine.

The researchers found that decaf did not deliver the same benefit. Neither did sodas, chocolate or tea, which contain smaller amounts of caffeine than coffee does.
