The Chicago Sun-Times says he is sending a letter to those in charge of local government agencies itemizing debts owed by their staff members. Those employees will have one month to pay up or risk suspension or being fired.
The letter indicates those who do not settle their bills could be suspended for 10 days for debts less than $250 or 15 days for those owing up to $500. Those with bills of $1,000 or more can lose their jobs.
Nearly $3 million is owed by deadbeat city workers.
