Rev. Jackson gives away food as he turns 70

October 8, 2011 (CHICAGO)

Jackson met with religious and organization leaders for breakfast at RainbowPUSH headquarters on Chicago's South Side to discuss renewing the War on Poverty started by President Lyndon Johnson in 1964

Later, Rainbow PUSH distributed 500 food baskets to deserving families at its headquarters at 930 E. 50th Street.

Religious and community leaders gathered to pay tribute to Jackson. Singer Stevie Wonder also sent a video tribute to the civil rights leader, singing his iconic version of "Happy Birthday."

Jackson said despite his age, he is still ready and willing to fight the good fight.

"Today I am 70 years old and I feel as strong as I did 40 years ago," Jackson said. "I'm still marching, I'm still fighting, still dramatizing and willing to go to jail. Waiting to see what the end is going to be."
