Marni Kotak is turning a New York gallery into her "birthing room," where she'll be spending time every day until her baby arrives within the next five weeks. She's calling the event "The Birth of Baby X."
Kotak says having a child is the greatest expression of life, and therefore, the highest form of art. Kotak said she feels prepared to give birth in the gallery with the support of her midwife and husband.
This isn't her first provocative performance. She's also staged reenactments of her own birth and losing her virginity in a Plymouth.
Kotak said she also hopes to extend the concept and do some of her child raising in the gallery.
