Police arrest man suspected of shooting ex-girlfriend

Police and U.S. marshals arrested a man who allegedly shot his former girlfriend as she walked her daughter to a bus stop in southwest suburban Joliet.

Roosevelt Gills, 34, was taken into custody Wednesday on Chicago's South Side. Authorities also recovered his vehicle.

It was on September 29 when Joliet police say gills pursued his ex-girlfriend in his car. Then he allegedly shot her several times. She was critically wounded.

Police say three days earlier, Gills shot the woman's current boyfriend in the arm.
