Chicago police confirmed Wednesday night that the head varsity football coach at Fenger High School has been charged with misdemeanor assault.

Cassius Chambers allegedly threatened a student who was accused by a player of stealing a pair of Nike flip flops.

A group of teens attacked 16-year-old Darion Jones October 1st outside his home, knocking out his prosthetic eye and a tooth. Two coaches allegedly drove the attackers to the house.

One of the teens is also facing a misdemeanor charge.

Jones' mother says he's denied stealing the flip flops.
