A Chicago couple became engaged live on ''Good Morning America'' Thursday.

Matt Weiner surprised Becca Pernikoff, who works at a Gold Coast car dealership. Pernikoff, a "GMA" fan, thought she was being interviewed for a report on car sales.

The couple has been together for three years. They were introduced by Perinkoff's best friend, who was dating Weiner's cousin. He says setting up the surprise was nerve-wracking.

The initial "M" is engraved inside the engagement ring in honor of Perinkoff's dad, who passed away while the couple was dating.

Weiner paid for the ring with money he earned trading Beanie Babies when he was 13.
