From zombies to Angry Birds, there's a costume for everybody

It was a dark and stormy day at Fantasy Costumes on the North Side Wednesday. Outside was the wrath of nature. Inside was the wrath of Halloween.

Yes, it's that time of year when our hidden personalities come forward, when we can actually be someone else, at least for a little while.

"Business is good," said Chuck Giovenco, manager of Fantasy Costumes. "It's starting to pick up. It picked up last weekend. The weather helps. People are having parties this weekend so they're coming in for this weekend and for next."

As always the little kids costumes are fairly easy to predict. The kids don't want to be a kid. They want to be big, they want to be heroes. But this year for adults, there's something new.

"A really big costume, surprisingly to me, has been the Angry Bird," Giovenco said. "It's a game that they play on their apps. And it's been selling for kids and adults. We can't keep them in."

Zombies are coming back from the Halloween graveyard again, but it will cost you an arm and a leg. Prices range from as little as $6 and up to $70.

And this year for some reason, masks are selling much better than they have in years. Maybe it's because they are becoming more and more realistic.

"Masks are doing really well this year," said John Helmber of Fantasy Costumes. "Usually they're a late sell but this year for some reason people are coming in earlier."
