Early-morning fires break out; 2 hurt

Meanwhile, another morning blaze was reported across town.

The West Side fire started at approximately 5 a.m. in the 4300-block of West Monroe.

A man in his 50s suffered from burns that covered more than 60 percent of his body. He is hospitalized in critical condition. A second man suffered minor injuries.

There was no word yet on what caused the fire.

Chicago firefighters also were called to a high-rise fire Sunday morning in the 100-block of East Erie.

Officials say the fire was in a convenience store.

There were no reports of injuries.
